Mice Built Home In Vehicle
Just when you think you’ve seen everything, you see this! This is a 2000 GMC Savanna that came in due to the speedometer not working. After we performed our diagnostics, we had discovered that there were actually several systems affected. During further investigation we discovered this large nest sitting on top of the engine. Mice were extremely busy constructing their mansion complete with a crawl space furnace. They were also busy chewing on the electrical circuits creating some havoc on this poor vehicle. Unfortunately this is not an uncommon issue. Mice are habitually attracted to warm dark areas, specifically in vehicles. Why do they chew on electrical wires you ask? Well apparently for dental care. Chewing wires is perfect for grinding their teeth and with their little paws, they can hold the wire while they chew! Yummy! So the next time you decide to let your vehicle set for a long period of time, you may want to take some precautions prior to storing your vehicle.
